As part of this topic we were given three themes to focus on: Migration, Power and Technology and my personal favourite, hidden city. Today, we were given the task to brainstorm ideas for what these words could mean, and came up with a crazy amount of words that relate to the themes. For migration we came up with ideas such as ‘time’, ‘rivers’, ‘people and animals’ and ‘history to present’ and added a whole list of reasons people migrate to different areas of the world. For power and technology we came up with things like ‘communication’, ‘money and wealth’, ‘politics’ and ‘industry’ and for hidden city we chose words like ‘sounds and smells’, ‘poverty’, ‘underground systems’ and ‘personality’.
We were also asked to chose one particular theme to do some more work on (NOT based on what other people have decided on) and I have chosen ‘hidden city’ because it’s what I believe I will do best at and is something I have experience in working with. (I will also post the work I have done for the other themes.) After the scheduled university sessions this week, on my way home, I have spent some time taking photos of the hidden parts of the city that I consider to be significant and interesting.
