I’ve just got back home after quite a weird morning at uni. I needed to use the laser cutting machine to finish the front cover for my book but after sending emails to all the qualified staff, asking advice from the lecturers in the graphics studio and personally searching for someone to show me to do I’d had no luck, no replies and still no finished cover.
Just as I was about to give up and throw together some mediocre substitute cover at home, I ran into a friend from product design who took me under his wing and escorted me to the product design studio where he hustled me into the long queue of impatient designers and showed me how to operate the machine. And after stealing memory sticks, dealing with corrupt files and a laser that didn’t want to do as it was told, I ended up with these little pieces:
